Dr. Seuss BooksReading
I believe that the key to teaching children to read and to love it is having them make personal connections to the books they read. Each day we will focus on a new book to read and explore. Most of our activities for the day will center around the book. Exploring the new world that it opens for the children. Through this exploration I will facilitate your child learning essential pre-reading skills.

Writing
Preschool children need to learn to express their thoughts and feelings on paper.  I explain this to the children telling them that writing is the way that other people can hear their stories.  Writing at the preschool age can vary between writing lines/shapes on a page to writing words.  I believe in having children use “invented” spelling (writing the sounds they hear in words).  I will facilitate your child on this path for writing.
Writing
Being able to write letters does take some practice.  Our “writing time” and our “writing practice” will be at different times of the day.  Helping the kids to separate the two things is important.  Writing time is a way for them to express their thoughts and feelings.  They will direct the way their writing goes.  Writing practice is a time to help the children learn how to shape the letters that they need in order to use them during “writing time.”

Math ActivitiesMath
Preschool children are already doing a lot of the math that they need to be able to do in Kindergarten, they just don’t have the words to use to express their knowledge.  Our math will focus on helping the children to discover the words for things that they can already do and then pushing that knowledge to be able to do new things.

Preschool ArtArt
I believe that Preschoolers need to have the opportunity to express themselves.  Art time will normally have a few basic rules or an outline of what to do.  What your child chooses to do with the materials they are given are up to them.

Science
Preschool ScienceChildren this age are fascinated about the world around them.  At my school my goal is to help the children understand the world around them.  I love when children come up with questions that we are able to explore and find the answer too.  It’s important that the things that they ask questions about are answered honestly and in the most timely manner possible.

Musical InstrumentsMusic
I believe that teaching through music is a powerful tool.  It helps the children to remember things easier.  It also gives them a chance to unwind, relax, and act silly.  It’s important that children learn to express themselves in a variety of ways.
